Sodium sulfide
■ Product Overview
The chemical formula of sodium sulfide is Na ₂ S, and it usually appears as a colorless crystalline powder or flaky solid. It is easily hygroscopic and has strong hygroscopicity. When dissolved in water, the solution is strongly alkaline, and it also has a special rotten egg odor, which is caused by its hydrolysis to produce hydrogen sulfide gas.
■ Scope of application
Sodium sulfide has important applications in multiple industries. In the paper industry, steaming and cooking cowhide pulp can effectively remove lignin and improve pulp quality; In the textile industry, it can be used as a dyeing aid and reducing agent to help dyes better adhere to fabrics and improve dyeing effects; In the leather industry, it is used for depilation and softening of raw leather to make it softer and more durable; In addition, it is widely used in fields such as non-ferrous metal beneficiation and wastewater treatment. In wastewater treatment, it can react with heavy metal ions to form precipitates, achieving the goal of removing heavy metals.
